Agriculture Academy

By participating in the Agriculture Academy, students have three main pathways to select from; Ag Communications, Ag Mechanics & Tech Operations, and Veterinarian Technician. Students will study plant science, animal science, and learn to safely use equipment in our Agriculture
classrooms. We encourage students to participate in FFA, building leadership skills and gain additional learning opportunities.

Culinary Academy

An Academy providing a focus on the art of culinary operations including, but not limited to, all aspects of preparation, presentation, and serving of food. Students will also gain leadership, communication skills, employability skills, and safe/efficient work practices.

Culinary Academy students will participate in a four-year program working towards their industry certification exam, ServSafe by the end of their Junior year.
Engineering at Lake Wales offers incoming freshman the opportunity to leave high school with an accredited Associates Degree in Applied Engineering through Polk State College.   This 4 year program is highly hands on, with real world projects.

Early Childhood and Teacher Academy

Early Childhood and Teacher Academy
Early Childhood Academy is designed to provide students with planning, management, finance, technical and production skills related to childcare and teacher education.

Students will focus on developmentally appropriate practices for children birth through age eight. Students who participate in this academy will work in our on-site daycare earning their needed hours towards industry certification.

Students can earn DCF 40 hour childcare training certifications by end of 9th grade. Early Childhood

Film and Media Communications Academy

Film and Media Communications Academy is designed to provide students with practical experiences in Adobe, interactive presentation development, and production and design.

Specialized skills in multimedia presentations such as video editing; audio features, and simple animation and authoring software are used to produce a variety of interactive multimedia presentations.

Students who specialize in Journalism will edit and design the Lake Wales High School Yearbook.

Various Adobe Certifications can by earned throughout the program.

Health Science Academy

The Health Science Academy prepares students to provide initial care to sick or injured persons, become ambulance drivers and attendants or prepares them for employment as an EKG Aide. Clinical learning experiences are an integral part of this program.

Students also have the opportunity to take course work through Polk State College their senior year.

Students can earn their EKG certification by the end of 11th or 12th grade depending on their track.
